Review: Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum

After hearing so many girls raving about this foundation I thought I`ll give it a try. I`ve picked up a shade 52 which is the second lightest one.

Short info about my skin:
  • Combination/Oily/Quite sensitive
  • Frequent blemishes
  • Cool-toned
  • Fair/light

This foundation definetely has yellow undertones which are not intended for cool-toned girls but the reason I don`t mind it is redness on my face. It`s naturally rosy and reacts to changing weather conditions (or indoor temperature) quite quickly and turns into more red. Also the shade is fine not only for reducing overall redness but also blemishes.

Here are some swatches:

My opinion on this foundation (I`ve been trying it out for the past month):

It`s sheer. You can try building it up but is not that buildable to cover huge blemishes or
pumping spots. It wil reduce redness and will make them more invisible but will not cover them up totally. So anyways, a concealer is needed. Also - it`s not covering dark circles under the eyes or purple veiny lids, so keep that in mind if you have any of these conditions.

It`s a light weight foundation suitable for everyday - it evens out the skintone, looks invisible and natural. Has a semi matte finish but my combination skin gets oily in an hour so I always use a setting mattyfing powder. But it`s not a big deal for me because I haven`t found a foundation which keeps me matte for the whole day yet.

Lasting power: it tends to wear off at the end of a day. Can slide off from blemish areas. I would say for combination/oily girls a setting power is necessary.

Overall: Healthy mix serum is a good natural foundation for everyday look when skin is in a good condition days. Texture is very easy to work with both brush and fingers, good quality for reasonable price. Keep in mind that it doesn`t last for the whole day if you have a combination/oily skin so you will need to touch up.

See you!

Sleek Storm palette review + autumn makeup

Yeah now I`m really sure how good my blog name fits me. Anyways, no apologies, let`s go straight to the Sleek palette because it`s gorgeous.

I have this palette for a while already (around 4 months) and I have used it quite a lot so I have a strong opinion already. I`ll try to keep it short and to the point.

First of all I love this palette because it`s suitable for many skin tones, it`s really versatile and neutral. No shocking colours so classic colours lovers like me would really enjoy it.
Secondly, the PIGMENTATION. Oh my, it`s unbelievable how pigmented it is considering the price tag! I was always quite sceptical when it comes to drugstore eyeshadows maybe because I had troubles in the past. Now I see the market is really changing and you really can get amazingly pigmented shadows for a fair price.
Coming back to the palette, another point is colour payoff - again, very very good and opaque. I found that only matte shades (which are 3 here) are not that pigmented and you have to work a little bit more with them but it`s still ok.
Another great thing is that these shadows last the whole day. I had days when literally I was out for 8-9 hours and the whole time my eye makeup was in place without reapplying. Only at the end of a day I started noticing some creasing (I don`t wear base for shadows) but that`s normal especially when you have quite oily lids like I do.
The last thing is price - I paid 10 eur, I know that the price differs in some countries so normally you can get this palette from 7 to 12 eur. You get 12 shadows where 9 are shimmery ones and 3 matte.

Here I`m adding a close-up view, swatches in normal and flash light.

Here is my everyday makeup look for the autumn using a Storm palette. Actually it works well for both daytime and nightime looks. It`s great when you are all day at school/university/work and you know that in the evening you are going out but you have no time for reapplying or carrying all your makeup around. On my lips I`m wearing 'Captive' (satin finish) by MAC.

Which is your favourite Sleek palette?

Review: Nars Foreplay Palette

I wanted to do a review on this NARS palette for such a long time but these past months were very intense for me. University & working stuff, lots of writing work, also the joys of summer - travelling, swimming pools, music festivals, laziness etc. Now when I have more free time I hope I will make more reviews on makeup products which I bought quite a lot these recently.

So here it is - a Foreplay palette, which contains the cult product - 'Orgasm' blush and 3 more components which according to NARS is an actual composition of 'Orgasm' blush. The design of packaging is the same like other NARS blushes. About size I would say it`s 1,5 times bigger than a normal NARS blush packaging (comparing to my 'Sin' blush). This palette contains 10 g of products all together and a single blush contains 4.8 g.

So inside we get 3 blushes: as I mentioned one of them is the original 'Orgasm' and the other 2 are matte shades which have no names but other bloggers are refering them to 'Amour' and 'Mata Hari' and one yellow with golden glitter highlighter.

The close look:

The biggest pan is a well-known 'Orgasm' - it`s a warm peachy-pink with a gold shimmer. I have never owned 'Orgasm' so this palette for me this is a great 2in1.

Above the 'Orgasm' we have a highlighter which is a super gold looking with quite big flakes of glitter. I think it`s fitting mostly for deeper skin tones. Girls who have fair/light skin (me also) I think should use it very carefully and with a light hand to avoid overdoing.

On the left side there are 2 matte shades - corally red and cool-toned almost neon pink. They both are my favourites from the palette because not only being matte (which I personally prefer more) but also because they complement my skin tone amazingly. I think these two are great and universal for all skintones, like the beloved 'Orgasm'.

Here I am adding some swatches:

Conclusion:

I highly recommend this 'Foreplay' palette to all who are fans of NARS blushes or for those who are looking for a nice blush set from which you can get out a lot of use. The quality is the same as in all NARS blushes - amazing, they are smooth on the skin, not cakey, very highly pigmented so you need just a tiny bit of the product, the staying power is just great - for me NARS blushes go 8 hours without reaplying (and I have oily skin!). I think NARS blushes are one of the best in the market and at least for me they are the best and a holy grail.

Another question is if to buy this palette if you already have 'Orgasm' - that`s a little bit tricky. I would say yes because I love matte shades but another important thing which must be considered is the size of each pan. The biggest complain about this palette as far as I heard - is that matte shades and a highlighter are just in too small pans and it`s hard to use with bigger brushes. It`s really a personal thing - for me these sizes are absolutely fine because I am a fan of small face brushes, I like precision. But if you are used to bigger ones - this palette could be a little problematic to use.

Have a great evening,
Eve

My favourite Summer of 2013 Makeup Collections

Hey there!

Just wanted to share my favourite collections for this 2013 summer!

Dior "Bird of Paradise":

Chanel L`ette Papillon:

Lancome Aquatic Summer:

Tom Ford Beauty Summer:

Summer this year goes into ocean blues and greens, except Tom Ford`s collection which is juicy bronze and fresh wet looking. We see pastels like in previous spring collections but this time pastels are more adventurous and experimenting. Those collections remind me mermaids and mysterious water tales, calling to go and explore the depths of the ocean. The most interesting things for me are the new mascaras from Chanel and Lancome because I`m in search for a new one. Tom Ford`s collection is also stunning, like Tom Ford said himself that with this collection he wants to mark the beauty of the woman`s skin in the sunset - glowy and sensual. Well, just look at that skin illuminator! Isn`t it gorgeous?

Wishes,

Eve

Real Techniques by Samantha Chapman Starter Kit

The kit was created by professional makeup artist and a blogger who is also making making video tutorials on youtube by te name "pixiwoo" (here is the channel: http://www.youtube.com/user/pixiwoo).

This set comes with 5 brushes for eyes and a case to keep them. Firstly, I love the case - it`s very confort, you can fold it and make it to stand while you are using brushes. The brushes are made completely cruelty-free, very soft ones and good quality but I found them a little bit tricky to use and here you will see my explanation.

In the kit we can find:

  •  (1) Base shadow brush - this one is my favourite of all of them, takes the right amount of the shadow and sets it beautifully on the lid.
  •  (2) Deluxe shadow brush - a big contouring, blending brush. Everything would be alright with it but I find it too big and effordless, it`s not that precise for the smoky eyes look as well but for daily use it`s just perfect - helps a lot to achieve a nice look quick and well-groomed.
  • (3) Pixel-point eyeliner brush - this brush is the least favourite of mine, generally I think it`s quite useless - first of all that it`s very big and I can`t imagine how it`s possible to create a fine and precise line, even if you like thick ones - it would be hard to work with it. The only way of using it I see as a lipstick brush but still it`s a little bit too small for that.
  • (4) Accent brush - I use it to make a dramatic smoky eyes look for the evening and it works very well with that, anyways for me it could be slightly bigger but it`s only my personal wish.
  •  (5) Brow brush - another brush which I am not using. In the picture the angle of this brush is a bit different I didn`t notice that it was turned to one side but this brush is really too big for eyebrows. It does just a messy work.

Here are the close picture of all brushes:

In general, I am not sure if I would buy this set, because let`s say 2 and a half brushes are quite useless. I don`t think that it`s a good kit for begginers because you have to have a light hand with them and work slow and concentrated which I always find as a weakness because I don`t like spending too much time doing my makeup with those brushes if I can do it more quickly with others. And especially it`s hard in the morning when the time is limited and there is no time "for playing". Nevertheless the quality of those brushes is a way better than we are actually paying, there are two really good brushes in this set which are totally worth to buy so if you have spare money - give this set a try.

Have a nice day,

Eve

My spring colours (Chanel, Rimmel)

I was looking for a perfect peachy-pinky colour suitable for my skin for ages. Finally spontaniously without going to buy anything I ended buying a lipstick. Inspired by my success I also picked up a matching blush. I`ve heard many good things about Rimmel blushes so I decided to give it a try finally.

Those are my picks: Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet "33 La Distinguee" and Rimmel "115 Mauve Cool":

- 33 La Distinguee by Chanel is a peach-pink colour, more to peachy side but we cannot completely call it "peach". The colour is quite warm but also neutral so it matches many skintones. The texture is rich, matte, gives a very glamorous look. I have quite dark (naturally reddish) lips so it`s always hard to choose light natural looking colours for the daytime because basically on my lips everything looks a way more darker than on a tube. I feel that La Distinguee kind of "neutralizes" my redness and gives a very light juicy colour, makes my face alive and youthful. I`ve read that some girls are finding Rouge Allure Velvet line quite drying but on my lips (which are the most of the time dry) feels moisturizing. The package is rhe same like the whole "Rouge Allure" line -  heavy and luxurious with golden details. Very chic and classic.

- 115 Mauve Cool by Rimmel is a peach-pink blush with sheen in it but no individual glitters which I dislike. Amazing match to the La Distiguee lipstick, colours are really similar. The blush is really pigmented, not as much as Nars blushes (with which you have to be careful not to overdo your face) so it`s a real plus for it. I am surprised that it stays on the face through the whole of a day. I apply it on the apples of the cheeks going up to the end of the brow, "drawing" a C letter and later with a clean fluffy brush blending it. The only disadvantages of the product are the brush and package - cheap and easy to break. But comparing to the price you are paying for a really good drugstore product - those things don`t bother that much.

Here are the close look pictures of the products:

Chanel Rouge Allure Velven in 33 La Distinguee (swatch in daylight and on my lips):

In combination with Rimmel 115 Mauve Cool:

In the end I want to show you my another favourite colour for the spring season which is pink, easy to wear and works with so many looks and outfits.

It`s Chanel Rouge Allure in 70 Adorable (in comparison with La Distinguee; the shade is also light neutral, going well with all skintones):

Which are your favourite shades for the spring season?

Good luck!

Chanel cream shadow in Ebloui vs Maybelline Colour Tattoo in Metallic Pomegranate

Here is the comparison about which I talked in my previous post.

First of all - I cannot agree that Metallic Pomegranate could be a dupe for Ebloui by Chanel. I would call this colour "an alternative" to Ebloui but they are not the same.
The important thing is that probably I was unlucky and got the damaged Ebloui. I bought it last summer and now it`s already impossible to use. When I opened the pot the eyeshadow was already dry and not creamy. After few months of using it it dried out completely. I read that some girls were also complaining that Chanel cream shadows are tend to dry but I am not sure about all of them because I didn`t buy more of them just because I wasn`t sure that the others are not going to dry. Nevertheless I have always adored this collection of Chanel cream shadows but my try to use one was dissapointing and now I have doubts about it.

Then later I saw those Maybelline Colour Tattoo eye shadows and noticed Metallic Pomegranate. I was looking for reddish/burgundy brown eyeshadow to change my Chanel one and help my green eyes to pop.

Ebloui is a warm burgundy brown berryish colour with lots of individual quite big sparkles.
Metallic Pomegranate is more metallic berry purple and the goldish shimmer in it is even, no individual sparkles but when appliend on the skin, gives more sparkling look.

Here are swatches on my hand in different lighting:

I am not sure how not dried cream Ebloui would be looking swatched on hand but it is how it is and you can compare the colours. I am trying to be fair but my points go to Metallic Pomegranate. I would love Ebloui a lot and put it in my favourite eyeshadows top 3 list but I just can`t because ir really dissapointed me and with that amount of money I could invest in another product. Maybe in the future I will have confidence to buy a new Ebloui which is just gorgeous but now I am using Metallic Pomegranate which is very pretty colour and so far a very good alternative for me.

In the end of taking pictures here what happened to the poor Ebloui:

Have you also had problems with Chanel cream shadows drying thing?

Good luck,
Eve

My current obsession: Maybelline 24 h Colour Tattoo

Maybelline 24 Colour Tattoo cream eyeshadows is not the new thing in the market but I tried them only few months ago. Before starting to review them I want to mark that before reviewing any product I am trying it first for couple of weeks to see how it works in different conditions - time of the day, staying power etc. Also for longer term - how my skin reacts to it, how much product I need to take to get the look and how economic or not the product is. I like talking about the first impression also but I find more important to spend more time and analyze the product completely and give my opinion. That`s why in the pictures the colours are already touched.

I got 4 shades (from left side up): Barely Baked, On and On Bronze, Permanent Taupe and Metallic Pomegranate.
In this post I am going to review the first 3 and I will make the new post-comparison between Metallic Pomegranate and Ebloui by Chanel.

Before starting I want to tell that those shadows I am using almost everyday in combination with others I have. They go perfect along with Chanel, Dior, Urban Decay and others. That already gives good points for colour tattoos because means that the quality of them is not disappointing at all comparing to high end brands. I am an absoute eyeshadow lover and always picking them very carefully. Not because that for me eyeshadow is the most important thing in my daily makeup routine but also that I have quite oily eyelids what requires a good staying power and non-creasing.

Here I am adding the pictures:

Barely Branded - a nude champagne colour with some shimmer. It is one of my favourite colours to use as a base. It brightens up the look, the texture is creamy, very easy to use only with a finger. It is from a limited edition so now quite hard to find. Nevertheless this shade is very similar to Barely Beige which came out in 2012 autumn collection. Actually colours are that similar when swatched and it`s hard to tell which one is which. Actually I don`t see the point creating another the same one but oh well maybe for some people they can work differently. Anyway, the colour is hard to get (I found mine on ebay) but absolutely gorgeous and worth to have.

On and On Bronze - cool-toned bronze with an intense gold-like shimmer. I am using it normally to create a night time smokey eye look. The colour is super creamy and easy to build. Sometimes I am using only a little amount, just to create a wash of colour on my lids. The shade is really gorgeous but despite that I fin it a little bit to shimmery for me but just because I prefer more less shimmery colours.

Permanent Taupe - also a cool-toned greyish neutral matte colour. My absolutely favourite one. Great to use with any combination of shadows as a base or just some colour for daily use. Probably the most easiest colour to combine and experiment, good building-up as well. Definetely suitable for all skin tones, all eye colours.

Conclusion: Maybelline 24 h Colour Tattoos come in glass pots, many people are comparing them to MAC paint pots. I have never owned any of paint pots but I tried them at the MAC stores. Actually I holded myself from buying them because I found Colour Tattoos which worked very good on me, so that saves pretty nice amount of money. Of course, the rage of colours is uncomparably limited. The lasting power is very good also - as I said sometimes my eyelids get oily in the end of a day but I`m never using any primer because with just a base shadow works fine. As I said before, sometimes I get my eyelids oily in the end of a day and in those moments Colour Tattoo start a little bit creasing but normally not. I think that girls with oily eyelids should definetely use an eyeshadow primer before applying those shadows.

How do you guys find those eyeshadows to use?

See you!

Chanel Spring/Summer 2013 Makeup Collection and Makeup Trends

To start talking about new trends for this spring/summer 2013 season, let`s take a look what the makeup dictator Chanel (the reason why I have chosen Chanel is very simple - it`s my all time favourite makeup brand) has created for its collection. This is going to help to notice which colour groups and shades they are using in order not to get lost while picking new items for your makeup bag or just to get inspired how you could renew your usual look.

This season Chanel is offering beautiful pastels with some flash of hot pink which is going to be very popular this season. The star of this collection is absolutely gorgeous  highlighter which looks like a magnificient piece of art. It`s very pigmented, the colour is a mixture of soft milk and warm peach. One notice - this product is from limited edition, so hurry up Chanel lovers!
There are also 6 shades of lipsticks which 2 of them are bright matte colours and the rest are new for the Rouge Allure collection - synthesis of beige, nude, soft rose and a new version of a plum which is still keeping positions from the past autumn/winter 2013 collections. Along with lipsticks we have matching lip glosses and lip pencils which are nothing really new I would say.
The colours of nail polishes are quite "clasical" - it`s nude and burgundy, which goes along with a new modern hot pink.
My absolutely favourite in this collection is a new eye shadow quad which contains from soft sand to plumish/coffee brown along with perfect nude. This set is for all natural colour lovers and ideal for creating a soft day-time smoky eye look.
Also Chanel offers us 3 shades of waterproof eye pencils and the last but not least item in this collection is peachy-coral blush which gives a very healthy warm colour to the skin.

Makeup trends for spring/summer 2013:
  •  Eye brows - boyish and very filed-in leaving the face neutral or combined with bright mostly reddish lips leaving eyes and skin natural looking.

  • Lips - matte, bright, modern with big flash of bright colour - the most trendy this season is hot pink but you can improvise with other colours like orange or red.

  • Eyes - blue came back! The biggest trend this season is bright blue eye liner or blue eyeshadows, no fear to expirement with this colour - makeup artist say big YES! Can be changed to any of bright colours - pink, purple, orange - any you like.

  • Lashes - big, long, feminine, opening the look and very dark. Catching the attention and sophisticated.

  • 60s makeup - a real classic, both day and night versions. Matte skin, filled-in brows, matte lips - nude or red, nude or black eyeliner.

  • Metallic eyes -  brave, modern look with glitter and shimmer. Again, using bright colours and shocking the crowd.

We can see that new spring/summer 2013 trend is mixing classic with modern bright unusual colours look. The space for creativity is left for both sides - romantic souls who love classical and neutral look and city citizens who are not afraid to express themselves and always looking for new adventures. Nevertheless, this new trend is not separating both looks - if you want to make your classic look more modern - just take a bright lipstick or an eye liner and with a little amount you can give yourself abeautiful modern look but not breaking the romantic spirit. I call it "alternative romance".

What is your opinion about the new trend? More positive or negative sides?

    See you soon,

    Eve

Fekkai Luscious Curls Conditioner

Hey guys,

Today on LazyBlueSundays I would like to review one hair care product which is my new obssesion in daily hair care routine. I saw it when the last time I stepped by in Sephora and decided to give it a try because have heard girls raving about it already a long time ago.

Fekkai is a brand by Frederic Fekkai, a French hair master stylist, working with many celebrities. His first hair care collection went out in 1995 and now it`s popular and well-selled all around 40 different countries in the world.

So I`ve picked up a conditioner from the "Luscious curls" line which is basically made for girls with natural curly hair, which I have. As it is saying in the descrition - the product is supposed to detangle frizzly hair, give them a defined smooth look, hydrate the hair and save from frizzing during the whole day. Also, it contains a honey nectar and ginseng which I personally couldn`t smell but expecting that thay are working on my hair invisibly. Actually, about the smell I have to note that I am not really liking it and it`s quite annoying for me. Too strong  and reminds a little bit the smell of a loft. Well maybe it`s just me.

Besides the smell, this product is just amazing! I have curly, tangly, dry and frizzy hair, girls with curly hair will understand me. I was quite sceptical about this because for me - all the conditioners more or less are good in the first hours after the washing but during the day they get frizzy and tangly again. Surprisingly, this product is not one of those at all. I am using it almost two weeks now and I can really tell that my hair is keeping in a very good condition during the whole day in terms of getting tangly. Also they are leaving soft and smooth, easy to brush and stays like that all day! So far I am impressed.

My personal rate is 8/10, just because of the smell which I really dislike and also it`s a little bit pricey (in Europe one bottle of 236 ml retails around 22 eur).

How did you like this product? What you guys could  suggest for a tangly hair?

See you, have a good night!
xx
